Do your colleagues only work enough to clock in their hours and do just enough not to get fired?
Yes, you can be an entrepreneur, a manager, or a leader, but those in your team are your colleagues.
But what if I told you that every person on your team has incredible potential waiting to be unleashed?
Imagine your work team as a group of superheroes, each with their unique powers. But wait, instead of fighting villains, they’re tackling projects and making amazing things happen!
We’re aware that in today’s world, where everything is in constant change and improvement, we need team members who are creative and innovative because a collective’s IQ is always higher than that of an individual.
We’re tempted to believe that not everyone is creative, and teams with innovative individuals are merely lucky to have found them.
Well, I’m here to contradict that!
You can enhance creativity and innovation within your team, and with that, of course, productivity will also increase!
So, how do we turn your ordinary team into a league of extraordinary problem-solvers? It’s simpler than you think!

First off, let’s talk about motivation.
Well, it’s all about their motivation and purpose. For people to feel motivated, they need to feel that you care about them as human beings, not just as a resource or a tool. In large companies, people usually feel whether the company cares about them or not through their direct manager.
How do you connect with them?
Practice always putting yourself at the team level, not just at a personal level. There are several levels of self, and the personal one is the lowest and most miserable.
Appreciate them for their efforts and qualities, not just for their successes. And it’s very important to appreciate them as they need, there are 5 languages of appreciation in the workplace, just as there are 5 love languages. Celebrate even the small successes constantly.
Imagine your team as a garden. Just like plants need water and sunshine to grow, your teammates need encouragement and appreciation to thrive. So, sprinkle some compliments, offer high-fives for effort, and watch them bloom!
Next up, let’s create a safe space for ideas to sprout.
It’s very important to allow them, permit them, create the necessary environment for these creative and innovative ideas to develop, and give them time for that.
Actively listen to them, don’t silence them when they have an idea, but allow them to express themselves. Even if now time doesn’t allow you to implement the necessary idea or you feel that others won’t agree, note it down, and put it in a backlog, so these people really feel heard.
Imagine your team as a brainstorming party where everyone’s invited, and no idea is too wild. Encourage your teammates to speak up and share their thoughts, even if it seems a bit out there. Who knows? That crazy idea might just be the next big thing!
Make innovation a team value and try to share with them what this can bring to others, to feel useful and beneficial to society, to create purpose for motivation.
Now, let’s talk about time.
Just like baking a cake takes patience, creativity needs time to rise.
So, carve out moments in your busy schedule for reflection and inspiration. Whatever it is, give your teammates the breathing room they need to let their imaginations run wild.
Ensure them a margin of time. If you’re constantly rushing from one task to another, you’ll never think more creatively and have new ideas. Not a minute now and a few tomorrow, but intervals of time where you don’t plan anything, where you use that time for retrospection, research, and introspection.
The margin is the distance between rest and exhaustion, the space between breathing freely and suffocation. It’s the opposite of overload.
But wait, there’s more!
Just like adding sprinkles to your ice cream makes it extra special, adding a dash of purpose to your team can make all the difference.
Help your teammates see how their work contributes to the greater good. Whether it’s making people smile with a new product or solving a problem that’s been bugging everyone, remind them that they’re making the world a better place, one project at a time.
So, there you have it, the secret recipe for unlocking your team’s creativity. With a sprinkle of motivation, a pinch of encouragement, and a dash of purpose, you’ll have your team soaring to new heights in no time!
